Smart Reader privacy policy
Overview
Smart Reader does not collect, sell, or send your data anywhere.
Data & Privacy Practices
- What is stored: articles you choose to save (title, link, site name, reading time, summary) and your highlights. These are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage. Your reader settings (theme, font size) are stored with Chrome sync storage so they follow your Chrome profile.
- Summaries: generated on your device, either by Chrome's built-in AI or by a local algorithm. Page content is not sent to any server.
- Page access: Smart Reader only reads a page when you click its icon, use its shortcut, or choose it from the right-click menu.
- License checks (Pro only): if you activate Pro, your license key is sent to Lemon Squeezy (our payment provider) to confirm it's valid, about once a week. The name and email on your purchase are stored locally to show who the license belongs to.
- No tracking: no analytics, no ads, no third-party services apart from the license check above.
- Deleting data: delete items from the library, or remove the extension to erase everything.
